Principal & Founder

Roopak was born to immigrant parents in the small island country of Bahrain. In the 1990s, Roopak's family immigrated to Toronto, Canada, where his parents acquired a travel agency. Roopak was fortunate to be raised in an environment where hard work and problem solving were prioritized.

In 2012, Roopak founded and ran his own profitable software development studio, gaining invaluable experience in navigating the complexities of small business ownership. After that, Roopak co-founded PopInShop, a marketplace platform that rapidly scaled to 750+ businesses across 45 cities. 

Roopak's continued involvement in the small business ecosystem includes mentoring with Techstars and providing pro bono consulting, further solidifying his appreciation for being a small business CEO.

Growth and Scale: Following his entrepreneurial journey, Roopak built an impressive track record of scaling technology organizations at high-growth companies, delivering $400M in ARR. 

• At Venmo, he rose from Engineering Manager to Head of Product Engineering in just two years, where he led a 70-person engineering organization and drove critical consumer-facing initiatives.
  
  
• At Harry's, as Senior Director, he architected an e-commerce platform that enabled the company's multi-brand expansion strategy.
  
  
• As Director of Technology at Wayfair, he led a 200+ person technology organization responsible for Catalog, Media and AdTech, while maintaining enterprise-grade reliability at scale.

Mergers & Acquisitions: Roopak brings valuable experience in M&A, demonstrated by his participation on the due diligence team for two potential acquisitions. He also contributed to the integration of two acquisitions.

Family

Roopak now lives outside of Boston, MA with his supportive wife and two children, age 8 and age 5. Beyond technology, healthcare runs in the family - Roopak's wife is an in-house lawyer at a pharmaceutical company, his sister is a practicing dermatologist and his in-laws ran their own gastroenterology practice for many years prior to retirement. 

Education

Roopak is a computer engineer from the University of Waterloo, holds an MBA from The Wharton School and has a Masters in International Studies from the Lauder Institute, University of Pennsylvania.
